History of Columbus Day
It was an Italian sailor who went on an expedition to Asia with Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand, the Spanish monarchs. His voyage began in Spain on the 3rd of August 1492 in three ships, the Nina Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Christopher Columbus made history by discovering the land of the Americas accidentally on October 12, 1492, while he was searching for a route to China or East Asia to their riches. After the Vikings in the tenth century, he was the first European to visit the Bahamas. This was the beginning of the “age of discoveries” and led to colonization.
